Dealing with Acne

4 min read · intermediate

Acne is not a hygiene failure. It is a combination of genetics, hormones, and clogged pores. The goal is not to nuke your skin — it is to manage it consistently.

Key ingredients

Benzoyl peroxide (2.5-5%) kills acne bacteria — start low. Salicylic acid (0.5-2%) unclogs pores and works well on blackheads. Niacinamide (5-10%) reduces inflammation and oil production. Retinol accelerates cell turnover — use at night and expect initial purging.

Stop popping pimples

Popping spreads bacteria under the skin and causes scarring. If a pimple has a white head, use a hydrocolloid patch overnight instead.

Tip: When to see a dermatologist

If over-the-counter products are not working after 8 weeks of consistent use, see a dermatologist. Prescription options like tretinoin and antibiotics are far more effective than guessing.
